BUILD HIS CHURCH
In Matthew 16, Jesus tells us He will build HIS Church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it. This word still holds true some two millennia later. In this collection of talks, we will unpack what it means for us, as believers, to rely on Jesus’ promise to build HIS Church and what this means for us as His Church in this world!
Week 7 of "Build His Church" welcomes Stephen Kuert of Involved International as he preaches on the importance of gospel partnership, as seen in Philippians 4:11–19. He explains that missions are central to the church’s purpose, not a secondary endeavor, as they reflect the overflow of authentic discipleship. Ultimately, Pastor Stephen calls believers to embrace a missional mindset with contentment in Christ’s strength, trust in God’s supernatural supply, and an eternal perspective on their contributions. Listen and be challenged.
"Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain." Psalm 127:1 — Pastor Rodney’s sermon, Unless God, emphasizes the futility of human efforts without reliance on God, as highlighted in this chapter. He challenges us to trust God fully in all areas of life—whether in building, protecting, or navigating anxieties such as money, uncertainty, and change. By embracing God's love and strength, we partner with Him to create lasting impact, particularly in raising and investing in future generations. Listen and be challenged.
“Because Jesus is coming, we live with purpose.” Pastor Rodney’s message invites us to align our lives with this truth, drawn from 1 Thessalonians. First, he calls us to have hope—trusting that Jesus’ return will bring restoration and inspire us to invest in future generations. Second, he encourages us to live holy, upholding God’s standards as a testimony of our faith. Finally, he urges us to love people, building God’s kingdom through authentic relationships and selfless giving. In anticipation of Christ’s return, we are called to live each day as a reflection of His love and mission. Listen and be challenged.
What we focus our time, energy, and resources on reveals our true priorities. In Pastor Rodney’s sermon, "Hunger for His House," he emphasizes the importance of prioritizing church attendance and cultivating a passion for God's house. He highlights David and Jesus as examples of individuals deeply devoted to the house of God, showing that God’s house is a place of worship, covenant, sanctuary, and thanksgiving. We are reminded that engaging in God's house brings spiritual transformation, strengthens community bonds, and provides a vision of heaven on earth. Listen and be challenged.
The "Songs of Ascent" in Psalm 121 remind us that our help comes from the Lord, who is always watching over us and will not let us stumble, regardless of the trials we face. In week three of "Build His Church", Pastor Rodney emphasizes the importance of inviting God’s presence into our lives to counter loneliness, endure suffering, and resist temptation, underscoring that true strength and guidance come from God alone. By prioritizing our spiritual connection with God, we find resilience and assurance in His constant care. Listen and be challenged.
Jesus teaches that following Him requires surrendering everything, whether it's wealth, family, or personal ambitions, but promises a return of a hundredfold in this life and eternal life in the age to come. In this sermon, Pastor Samson explores the story of the Rich Young Ruler from Mark 10:17-31 to highlight the cost of following Jesus. The cost is heavy, but what is gained—life in Christ and His church—is far greater. Listen and be challenged.
Following Jesus involves confession, repentance, surrender, and obedience to His teachings, leading to a partnership with Him that transforms lives. In week one of "Build His Church", Pastor Rodney encourages proclaiming the gospel as an act of witness, showing that true followers of Jesus reflect His character and bring others to Him. We are reminded that God's power accompanies those who believe, enabling them to do great works in His name. Listen and be challenged.
